WELCOME TO
A STRONGER FUTURE
We are a robust, global community of coffee advocates driven to bring about equity and diversity into the coffee community.
WHO WE ARE
The Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity (CCRE) is the coffee industry’s accountability partner in advancing efforts towards racial equity.
CCRE envisions a racially diverse and equitable coffee industry where talents are recognized and developed to the fullest potential and rewarded. The current Board of Directors consists of 16 coffee professionals that range from very large retailers to small entrepreneurs, traders, and roasters. In addition to US citizens there is representation from Kenya, Rwanda, Canada, and Brazil.
WHAT WE DO
Align strategic partnerships with individuals, companies and NGOs, and map pathways into the coffee industry.
Create community and support via networking and empowerment programs.
Serve as a trusted resource for coffee professionals and companies when issues involving racial equity arise in the workplace. Our plans include developing consultancy and training programs.
Develop accelerator programs, including mentorship opportunities for young coffee professionals.
Educate industry partners to see the value in building a more equitable future for the next generation of coffee professionals.
Create educational resources to tell the story race has played in coffee’s history and how it continues throughout today.
HOW WE DO IT
In order to build a more racially equitable coffee industry, it starts with having diverse perspectives in the room.
Coffee, one of the oldest and most well-established industries in the US, lacks the engagement of diverse talents. We believe in leveraging our work through partnerships and it is through our partnerships and collaborations with the industry that will allow the CCRE to address the key opportunity gaps. Our collaborations include business, educational institutions, and not-for-profits.
WHY WE DO IT
“The cost of liberty is less than the price of repression”
W.E.B DUBOIS
Our strength is in diversity. We recognize that race is a part of our life experiences and affects our individual perspective. Coffee companies and employees benefit from the participation of the whole society, both in employment and consumption. There is much more to explore and experience with diverse voices and participation.
